a new page... links!
i finally added a links page! truthfully, i’ve always felt anxious about the idea of making one. it stems from the way that people have treated connections on social media: whether that’s how people view “mutual” follows, reshares, who you’re following or not following, etc. there are a lot of people online who will examine others under a magnifying glass, attempting to divine some interpretation or implications out of the people around them.
and… i hate that!! i hate the idea that unfollows get viewed as a personal slight, or feeling pressured to follow someone back solely to fulfill an arbitrary social contract, and not because i want to. unfortunately, with the way my brain works, i get easily overwhelmed by social media feeds. i have to be very careful and meticulously curate my feeds, because i know i’m prone to getting overwhelmed and exhausted. (no amount of telling myself “simply do not get bothered or easily affected” has helped.)
so, with that in mind: i wanted to make a “links” page that was on my terms. and, perhaps, rebelling against the way that social media has encouraged engaging with the online world. it’s a list of interesting things on the Web—well, things that i think are interesting, at least—and i’d encourage readers to take a look. you might discover something new, or be reminded of something that you wanted to check out! have fun
